Looking at my Google history, I can see that in the past week or so I’ve googled, “How long will it take to lose 10 pounds?”, “How long does it take to ship a small box to England?”, “How long does it take to learn fractions?” And, it’s a question people ask me as well. Clients want to know how long it takes until they aren’t in pain anymore.
Stay tuned because I’m going to tell you!
It may sound flippant, but the answer is this: it depends.
Think about how long it may take someone to lose 10 pounds. This also depends on the person. Is there a metabolism dysfunction? Does the person say they eat healthy, but eat a pint of ice cream in secret every other night? Does this person go to the gym and put forth the effort it takes in an hour of cardio and some weight training? There’s a lot to factor into this question isn’t there? It takes 40(ish) old me a lot longer to lose weight than it took 25 year old me, and there are a lot of reasons why. And the same thing can be said about massage.
Let’s take someone who sits down at a desk 5 days out of 7 – and they suffer from low back pain. They have been in pain for the better part of a year. This kind of pain will not go away with just one massage. It might decrease significantly, but that person might benefit even more from a massage every two weeks for a month. From there, that person would most likely get a massage every month so that the pain doesn’t come back.
Another person may have a different time table. Maybe just 2 massages will get them to a point of just coming once a month because that person also stretches and practices yoga twice a week. Every person is different and we all do different things all day long, so every client is different.
